R2S reduces POB and TAR duration
Challenge
An oil and gas super major needed to enhance remote work capabilities and improve collaboration for essential maintenance on its largest production and drilling platform in the Gulf of America. With limited offshore capacity and high operational costs, reducing POB (Persons on Board) and minimising turnaround (TAR) duration were critical to success.
Solution and results
AIS deployed R2S to create a high-fidelity digital twin of the asset. Work packs, plans, P&IDs, and external system links were integrated into the model, giving TAR teams a single, visual platform for planning and coordination.
Using R2S, personnel could conduct virtual walk-throughs, measure equipment and clearances, coordinate activities, and access inspection reports—without stepping offshore.
Impact
- 604 person-days removed from offshore POB
- 25% reduction in project duration
- 33% cost savings, equating to approximately $10 million
By enabling smarter planning and remote collaboration, R2S helped bp deliver a safer, faster, and more cost-effective turnaround.
