R2S in West Africa
Challenge
As part of an ongoing digitalization program, one supermajor off the west coast of Africa sought to improve collaboration and cross-functional problem solving on two of its FPSOs.
Having used R2S for thirteen years, the client contacted Asset Information Services (AIS) as their first choice for the FPSOs and elected to purchase its own self-capture equipment to continually update the digital twin.
Solution and results
- AIS deployed surveyors and completed the digital build in under two months, a ‘personal best’ for R2S in terms of turnaround time that freed extra time for integrating client data from ALIM and SAPPM and providing in-country training to users
- After completion, the region has more than 400 users across 14 contractor organizations, greatly reducing the carbon impact of travelling to site on a regular basis for work that can be done remotely
- Client experienced a 20% reduction in information search time equating to around 75 person-years per annum
