R2S saves time and money at LNG facility
Challenge
An international oil company’s (IOC) LNG refinery located in Indonesia experiences excessive travel time requirements to reach the remote facility – 20 hours of flight time and a boat from the nearest hub city – as well as limited on-site internet and communications. The IOC wanted a solution that offered the ability for teams to collaborate off-site to reduce cumbersome and expensive travel, although the local legislation forbade data from leaving the country.
Solution and results
- Once captured in R2S, model build and integration of tags had to be done in-country by law, so Asset Information Services coordinated closely with the IOC and a partner company to adhere to legislation
- The IOC’s ROI became quickly apparent in decreased travel time and expense and increased collaboration
- The IOC experienced unprecedented success across five aspects:
- TAR planning trip reductions
- Planning time reduced for staff and third-party contractors from Japan
- Well operations planning team was able to cancel excessive trips to site
- Apprentice training became safer and cheaper through remote learning
- Crisis management could be exercised and performed remotely by emergency response teams
