R2S data management transforms operations
Challenge
An operating FPSO off West Africa was seeking solutions to inefficiencies in data governance and processes that were driving up operational costs and resulting in hampered decision-making.
Searching for information across multiple uncoordinated systems and repositories such as ALIM, SAP, and UPV wasted time, and additionally led to difficulties in interpretation of the data that could be retrieved, much of which consisted of documents and drawings contained in data structures that lacked the context necessary for cross-referencing information.
Solution and results
- We surveyed data sources and structures, then extracted the repositories into a single system to produce real-world coordinates for P&ID, GA, and isometric drawings
- This data provided the basis for information to be tagged into R2S to give a single, integrated, overarching governance structure based on contextually rich visualization
- Search time reduced by thousands of hours across the organization
- Saved ~$20 million in time saved, reduced trips, and increased production to asset to confirm data against ground truth
