Asset Information Services (AIS) announces collaboration with leading University to understand user behaviour and help shape new user interfaces.

AIS, working in collaboration with Aberdeen University, have initiated the development of a dashboard tool designed to better understand behavioural patterns exhibited by users of the R2S solution, in various operational environments and across a variety of industries and use contexts.

R2S is a well-known and much-lauded digital twin platform allowing users to remotely navigate an asset or location while accessing a wide variety of data types embedded in images via tags. Adopted by global corporations in the wind, oil & gas, and adjacent industries, it saves time, saves money, enhances collaboration, and improves safety.

The project will start 25th May 2020 and will finish with the academic year on the 14th August 2020, providing for several months of focused problem-solving and solution development. The benefits of better understanding how users engage with R2S in real use-case conditions is invaluable to improving the interface characteristics and usability of the product.

Sean Huff, AIS managing director says:

“We at AIS recognise that interaction with our academic institutions is the way to meet new talented people, solve real world problems, and overcome challenges with new ideas. This collaboration will result in essential business projects being completed, providing an unparalleled opportunity for students to apply their burgeoning skills to a real-world business challenge. I look forward to welcoming the students onboard.”

Dr. Bruce Scharlau, University of Aberdeen comments:

“Our MSc IT programme offers University of Aberdeen students an unmatched exposure to industry. Whilst COVID-19 means they will be remotely working from homes in Europe, Africa, and Asia, I’m entirely confident they will deliver great value to organisations including AIS and increase their employability upon graduation. The live client project is always something the students love about the degree. I’m sure that this year will be just the same, even if they are spread around the world.”

As the AIS digital twin solution, R2S, expands further into offshore renewables - with an additional boost from data science integration using Microsoft’s Power BI system to convey asset analytics - maintaining an intuitive and user-friendly experience is a top priority for the software platform.
